What is Sandtray? Sandtray therapy is a projective technique using a tray of sand and miniature objects to create a three-dimensional world. It is a non-verbal, hands-on therapeutic approach that allows adults, adolescents and children, to tap into the conscious and unconscious mind through symbolic representation. In the process, inner resources can be strengthened, insights gained, clarity of situation, conflict resolution, and movement towards a more calm, integrated self.
Training. This unique training allows mental health professionals to learn and explore the power of sandtray therapy through experiential activities within a comfortable small group environment. Sheri received sandtray training from Karen R. Burke in Austin, Texas through the Texas SandTray Association. Karen trained with Dr. Theresa A. Kestly, at the Sand Tray Training Institute of New Mexico. As one considers the investment of sandtray training, knowing the lineage of the sandtray trainer allows a person to assess the quality of training.
